LVPV offers:
- ESL Classroom Instruction Classes are open to students of all levels and are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings and evenings. Students are welcome to join throughout the year. Except for the Monday night beginner class, classes are online via zoom. Please email literacyvolunteerspv@gmail.com or sign up on-line https://www.literacyvolunteerspv.org/student-sign-up.html
- Conversation Group Students are taught a group lesson and then divided up into small groups or pairs to practice conversing with others. Students of all levels are welcome and are able to benefit from this class. Contact us for more information, literacyvolunteerspv@gmail.com
- One-on-One Tutoring LVPV matches each student with a trained tutor who meets the student's specific requirements and schedule. Tutoring takes place at any participating libraries or online for at least one hour/week or more depending on the tutor/student arrangement. Participating libraries include: Allendale, Cresskill, Dumont, Emerson, Franklin Lakes, Hillsdale, Lodi, Montvale, Paramus, Park Ridge, Ramsey, River Vale, Teaneck and Westwood.

2020 CENSUS
A census of the population is conducted every 10 years, and 2020 is the year for the census! Data gathered from the census are used to determine how federal funds are distributed to states and local communities every year for services, including health clinics, schools, roads and emergency services. The English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) Program offers a unique opportunity to U.S. citizens who are native speakers of specific languages. EHLS provides training in communication and career skills essential for working in the government. Upon graduation, EHLS participants seek work in federal agencies as part of their scholarship obligation. They are able to offer potential employers not only native-speaker proficiency in their language, but also confidence and ease with interacting in a government workplace. Programs include Rental Assistance, Home Energy Assistance, Homelessness and Eviction Prevention, Weatherization Assistance, and the Lead-Safe Home Remediation Program.
